Which horse did you run?
I ran a horse by the name of Tee Jays Chance aka Tater. He is a big sorrel/roany looking gelding owned by one of my friends Teresa Quay. I ran him some this past fall and did very well on him after I sold my good mare Rookie.
How was the ground, alley, warm up area, etc?
The ground here has always been a little “different” It is sandy but gets pretty loose and deep. The alley way is average but there is no closed gate running out, so it gets pretty crazy with horses running out and the fact that they do not always stop.
Tell me about your run, the good the bad and the ugly. Exactly how you felt about it.
I decided to run Tater here because it was a very short score line and I knew from past experience on him that he can truck through anything. He is a big gelding and is very sure footed. Tater got to rolling a little too fast to the 1st barrel and we got passed it, he tripped on the backside but took off hard to the 2nd barrel and he felt good going into it. When he set to turn he lost his entire back end and then proceeded to go down in the front end. I saw the ground coming up fast and it pretty much scared the crap out of me. Tater jumped up quickly, finished the turn and took off for the 3rd barrel. At that point I was trying to pull him up, and realized I had my left spur caught up in something, which kept my foot behind. I finally got him slowed down and we loped out of the pen.
Comments about the rodeo?
I really like the facility here, but wish they would work a little more on the ground. I was 6th out and the horses after me continued to have some problems with the ground. I did get to see Shiloh run my old mare Mighty Mouse. They were winning the rodeo with a 14.8 and Mighty Mouse ran a 14.9 even though she got a little passed her 1st barrel. I was very proud of them!
Anyhing interesting happen on the trip there or back?
I left for the weekend a week early actually to go to a horse show in Unadilla, GA (yes I said a horse show…it’s what we do in between rodeos to get to know knew horses) lol. Anyway I picked up a friend from at the Atlanta airport by the name of Cari as she was going to look at 4 horses I had lined up for her to try. We were very excited about the horse show weekend until it flooded everything one day (good thing it was inside) and SNOWED the next day (did I mention I was in Georgia??) We both rode like complete morons at the horse show and were more than ready to get out of Georgia. We headed to Alabama to stay at a friend’s house for the week, ride horses, and for Cari to try the 4th horse. Cari’s husband came through with the rest of the crew to pick us up on Thursday March 5th. The boys were supposed to pick us up around 7:00 pm, well of course they got a late start so they said 10:00pm which turned into like midnight. Cari and I had all of our stuff sitting outside my trailer to switch over to her trailer for the weekend. The boys finally picked us up, we loaded everything up, and we were on our way. The first time we stopped for gas and I went to get my wallet out it was NO WHERE TO BE FOUND. I tore everything out of all my bags and proceeded to have a complete COME APART…we finally made it to Pendleton, but I still had no wallet, money, drivers license etc….to be continued……
What CD is in your cd player in your truck right now?
my truck and trailer stayed in Alabama and the CD player in Grants truck (the guys truck that we took) was also a DVD player so we watched movies instead of listening to music..definitely the next purchase for my new truck
