Spencer Update: IPRA Rodeo, Fort Pierce, FL

Spencer Turner
Date, Rodeo Name and Location
Thursday March 5th I was in Fort Pierce, Florida at the Wide Open/St. Lucie County Fair and Rodeo. It was an IPRA rodeo that added $3000 per event
Which horse did you draw?
I drew a Chestnut mare… 48 High Time Gal
Stock Contractor?
Rawhide Rodeo Company from New York
How was your horse in the chute?
She stood fine until I got on her then she started sprawling out in the front end and squatting down. She was also reaching around and biting my foot and my chaps
Did you learn about the horse before hand?
I just talked to Sam the Contractor and a couple bronc riders. They said she was bucky and hard to ride and they dont haul her to many rodeos.
Tell me about your ride, did you feel strong, did the horse perform the way you thought it would?
Like I mentioned earlier she was biting me and squatting down in the front end but Sam said that was just her normal thing and that she would leave the chute good when I nodded. So I nodded and she left there in a hurry! She had a lot of moves but was kicking out pretty good. She got really high in the air. I was spurring really good with my left foot and getting high in the neck. My right foot was doing good to but not getting as high in the neck. She felt like she was throwing her head a round too and making it a little harder to keep my rein in front of me. She went to the fence and kinda slipped coming off the fence and almost went down but gathered herself and we finished the ride for a score of 79 points and we tied for 2nd and 3rd for a pretty decent payday.
Comments about the rodeo? committee, hospitality, etc.
They have several rodeos at that arena throughout the year and it is a very nice facility. The Seminole Tribe jumped on board this year with the rodeo too helping with the added money and such. And the fact that it is 70 some degrees in March helps out with me liking that rodeo also
