On The Rodeo Road Welcomes WRPA Barrel Racer Tracey Goodman…

Tracey Goodman at Fort Smith

Tracey Goodman at Fort Smith

Full name, age, event, and circuit?

My name is Tracey Elizabeth Goodman. I’m 22 years old and barrel race mainly in the Southeastern Circuit.

What age did you get involved in Rodeo?

I have been on a horses back BEFORE I could walk. I first started actually rodeoing around 15 or 16 but we have always went to local saddle club shows, NBHA’s, and barrel races all over.

Why did you decided to pursue rodeo?

If I could make rodeo my full time job, I definitely would. It is a love that you can’t find just anywhere. The feeling, the smell and the excitement…it’s like none other.

Please name your career highlights (or the ones that mean the most to you).

Hmmm…the one that means the most to me…I wouldn’t even know where to start. But I can say that my most favorite thing to hear as my horse pushes off the 3rd barrel is the crowd roaring and the announcer telling everyone to watch the clock…(thinking there might be a time change). Such a great feeling.

What are you 2009 goals both personal and in the arena?

My personal goals…out of the arena, I just wanna strive to be a better person and a better Christian. In the arena, I would love to make Southeastern Circuit finals in Florida for WPRA. But if I’m going to achieve that I need to get on the ball…I’m behind!! :)

How would you describe yourself?

I am fun and outgoing. I have NEVER met a stranger. Love being on the road and my critters are my world.

At this point in your career, how do you pick and choose between rodeos?

I basically try to hit the ones that make the most sense to go to. There needs to be decent added money. This isn’t a game you can get rich at though and I have to keep that in the back of my head. lol.

What is something you cant live without, when you are on the road?

To be honest…I hate going without my Mini Aussie, Callie. She is the absolute best hauling partner a girl could have.

Favorite food

DORITOS CHIPS…

Other Hobbies?

I love getting on colts and breaking them out. One of my favorite things is trying to “get into” a problem horses head. They are so interesting if you really just try to work with them.

Who do you look up to in your event?

Who do I look up too…that’s a really hard question. I really like Angie Meadors. She always seems to have a lot going on with modeling and training futurity horses. She seems like a really down to earth girl.

What horses are in your trailer at the moment?

(Name each horse, age, color, Name, Barn Name, and if they are your main mount, back up, any quirks they have, or something cute about each one)

Magnolias Class. Aka-Biscuit. 14 year old bay gelding.  He is my main mount. Then I have Zeros Hawk Boy which is gonna be on the trailer until he sells. He is 9 years old and we call him Scratch. Then there is Scratch’s little sister, Itch. (reg. name is Future Earnings) She is getting to see the sights right now and getting some seasoning under her belt. She is 5 right now.

What rodeo do you look forward to the most and why?

I love the Memphis, TN. WPRA. Sikeston is great too….along with Fort Smith, Ar.

What would you tell a Rookie starting out in the rodeo world today?

Well, I would tell them not to let rodeo take up their whole life. Be serious about it definitely but let it be what you do…not who you are
