Date, Rodeo Name and Location
On Friday the 13th I attended the Marshall PRCA rodeo in Marshall, Texas

 What horse did you draw?

I drew a sorrel horse branded 511 and named Sorrel Top

Stock Contractor?

Classic Prorodeo Company from Texas

How was your horse in the chute?
My horse was pretty bad, pawing the ground in the alley, kicking, rearing up, just a real bear all together

Did you learn about the horse before hand?
I couldn’t find anything on the horse on the computer and no other cowboys knew what it was either. I talked to Scotty the stock contractor and he said that he purchased the horse at the NFR bucking stock sale in Las Vegas in December. The horse was a colt (which seems to be all I have been getting on lately) and the it was pretty bucky and it bucked with its head on the ground and would need some rein.

Tell me about your ride, did you feel strong, did the horse perform the way you thought it would?
After all the rucus in the chute I nodded and when the gate opened the horse stalled, then ran forward in the chute then went backwards, all the time the gate was wide open. The horse then decided to leave the chute and kinda ran me down the gate. It took a little scoot then did put its head on the ground and break really hard and buck hard. I thought that it was gonna be great!! The horse then proceeded to throw, what we call a colt fit, or a wild horse fit. Just jumping in air and turning back and just kinda getting real western. I was riding great, setting my feet real high and controlling my rein really well. When the buzzer sounded I jumped off and walked back and heard the score of 73 points. Those horses that throw those wild west fits are real crowd pleasers but the judges are looking for kicking action and mine didn’t kick out much so that’s why only 73.  It was a lot of fun though! I am very thankful that the Lord has blessed me with the talents to ride bucking horses, it’s a blast.

Comments about the rodeo? committee, hospitality, etc.

I have been to that rodeo before back in 2007 and liked it. It adds $1000 in each event and they cut off the bronc riding at 36 entries. They treat the cowboys well with an awesome hospitality room with many, many choices of food to eat. I’m glad it was a covered arena because it had been raining in Texas for 3 days and rained throughout the whole rodeo and with temperatures in the low 30′s it was definitely a chilly night to rodeo.

Your favorite protein bar, when out on the road?

I like Met-Rx!
