Spencer Turner IPRA Rodeo Update..Marion, Arkansas

Spencer Turner, Winning Ride at IFR 2009
Date, Rodeo Name and Location
On May 9th I attended the Espernanza Bonanza Festival Rodeo in Marion, Arkansas it was an IPRA rodeo
Which horse did you draw?
I drew L9 a big paint horse
Stock Contractor?
MFJ rodeo productions owned by Mark Johnson
How was your horse in the chute?
He wasn’t too bad but they tied him in just for precaution because he has been bad in the past
Did you learn about the horse before hand?
I had seen the horse before and knew he was pretty bucky. Mark told me he bucked off an NFR cowboy at Cheyenne last year (Mark also puts on PRCA rodeos)
Tell me about your ride, did you feel strong, did the horse perform the way you thought it would?
The horse stalled a little bit in the chute and then came out pretty hard and bucked really good for a few seconds. The arena was muddy and had water in it so maybe that had an effect of why during the last few seconds bucked different. He kinda threw a wild horse fit, rearing up and turning back. My saddle seemed a little tight (my stirrups were a little short) so I didn’t spur him like I could have but I was still blessed to be 76 points and win a good chunk of change for placing 2nd.
Comments about the rodeo? Committee, hospitality, etc.
he rodeo added $700 in the saddle bronc riding and the committee was very friendly and had an awesome hospitality tent for us. I am thankful to the Lord for keeping all the animals and contestants safe this weekend. Because of all the rain the arenas were very muddy and slick but no animal or person fell and or was injured.
