Did you know about the Horse?
I drew Rolly Polly. Everybody knows Rolly Polly. She has been to the NFR several times, she is a great horse.
Tell me about your ride, did you feel strong, did the horse perform the way you thought it would?
She wasn’t the best in the chute. She was rearing and anxious, just ready to go. She knows what she is about to do! I nodded and they cracked the gate and she tried to jump over it. She ran me down the gate and ran me off my riggin, but I did mark her out. The second jump, she came up off the ground and tried really hard to get me off. I started spurring and every jump she made I thought I may hit the ground. She was bucking so hard and so fast, she is the fastest horse I have ever been on. I got 80 points and ended up winning the rodeo! It was a nice paycheck and a great rodeo. This rodeo gives each performance winner $500.00. I thought that was so cool! I will go back just for that reason, they will keep contestants coming back if they continue that. I was really impressed!
Up next Oakley, Utah…..10 hour drive…stay tuned!
Spencer Turner Injury Report…Foot Update

Spencer Turner, Winning Ride at IFR 2009
Well I have been staying in Iowa and seeing a sports medicine, chiropractic doctor for the last few weeks. He wanted me to start exercising and getting my cardio built up again, which in turn will help with the blood flow to my foot. I did start using a cross training machine, then worked up to a stationary bike. He has been very, very impressed how fast I have been healing up. I knew I would heal pretty fast. I have been taking AquaOxygen for a little over a year, which I believe helps me heal faster. The doctor also has me on some enzymes, which is helping clear out the blood and other stuff from my foot which makes it look swelled up and hurt. The doctor also had me on a machine that puts short waves into my foot which in turn speeds up the healing process too. Last Friday he wanted me to start jogging on my foot. To tell ya the truth I was a little leery about that. I actually waited until Wednesday until I started jogging on it. I have been jogging on it almost every day. I dont jog very long but I try to do it a little. To be honest it hurts, but doc says I’m not hurting the bones or not going to dislocate the joints anymore. The pain is cause of the fluid in my foot and some of the ligaments. He wants me to continue to jog on it. Friday was my last appointment for a couple weeks; the doc cleared me to ride whenever I want to enter up, which I think is awesome. The other doctor in Kansas City said it would be almost six months from my accident before I could run on it or start competing, Dr. Manuel in Iowa had me running on it in 46 days and cleared to compete. It just goes to show ya how important a second opinion is (along with determination). I am thinking that I will enter a rodeo around the 24 and 25th of July, just to give me a couple weeks more to get ready (physically and mentally).
I would like to give a huge thanks to the friends and family who have helped me the last couple months. I would also like to thank the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund for their financial contribution to help me in this time, when I could not rodeo and have an income. Calgary Stampede flirts with attendance record
By Tamara Gignac, Calgary HeraldJuly 13, 2009
CALGARY – The Calgary Stampede is officially recession-proof. Final attendance figures won’t be available until today, but organizers are confident the event attracted nearly as many visitors as it did in 2008, the best year in its 96-year history.
Despite challenging financial times –and the worst economy Alberta has seen in two decades–Stampede president David Chalack said he’s “ecstatic” by the volume of people who came through the turnstiles this year. (read more)
