The fourth annual International Professional Rodeo at Love Valley is right around the corner.

This year’s theme is “Kick Up Your Heels for Hospice.” Proceeds from the rodeo, scheduled for Aug. 14-15, will benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.

Organizer Charlie Nance said he and his wife, Beth, became interested in Hospice five years ago.
“They do a lot of good,” he said. “It’s a real good organization.

“It’s our way of giving back to the community a little bit.”

Scheduled events this year include bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, cowgirls barrel racing and break away roping, calf roping and team roping. The activities begin each night at 7:30 p.m., when musician Stan Clardy will perform for 30 minutes. (read more)
