Rodeo stars will be on display in Ellensburg

YAKIMA, Wash. — Pretty much anybody worth seeing in the PRCA ranks — certainly anybody in the running for a world championship as 2009’s regular rodeo season enters its climactic final month — will be at this weekend’s Ellensburg Rodeo.
The top 39 steer wrestlers in the world standings are entered, as are the top 36 saddle bronc riders, the top 36 tie-down ropers, 25 of the top-ranked bareback riders, 37 of the 40 winningest team roping duos, 25 of the top 29 bull riders and 10 of the top 12 barrel racers…(read more)

That same year, the Mills, Wyo., cowboy also captured the Canadian Tour championship and qualified for the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
But, Timberman reluctantly turned out of the CFR because it conflicted with the American Wrangler Tour championships at Dallas, Tex., and the money there counted toward the world standings.

Timberman has also qualified for the new Canadian Tour championship, which was launched for the first time last year. It takes place at the Calgary Corral on Oct. 2-4.
He locked up his appearance at the two post-season events during Wednesday night’s opening performance of the closing regular-season Canadian Tour stop at Armstrong, B.C.
