Introducing Lisa Novak, Veteran PRCA Barrel Racer and Great Lakes Circuit Director. Grab a cup of coffee and learn more about Lisa in this four part series.

Lisa, Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down with On the Rodeo Road and talk to us about your rodeo career and your adventures on the road.
How has your year been going so far inside the rodeo arena?
This year my time spent in the rodeo arena has been minimal! I have been riding several young horses getting them ready hopefully for a prosperous career in the rodeo arena. My young horses have won a little money this year so it has been a rewarding season just knowing they are capable of handling it.
Your win at the DNCFR in 2006 must have felt amazing, what is the one thing that stands out in your mind about the last run to win it?
Gosh the whole week was just amazing but the one thing that really stands out in my mind is how proud I felt of Cash knowing how he really dug down deep and pulled such an amazing run for me. I am not sure who wanted it more him or me!
You have had some major accomplishments in the sport of rodeo, is there a goal you feel you haven’t reached?
Well I feel I have accomplished every goal I have set so far! I guess now I am just enjoying my horses and progress with them and leave next year up to them!
Your horse Cash N Blue, how did you come to own him?
I bought him as a three year old. I owned his full brother and just loved him so it felt appropriate to acquire Cash! He is a once in a lifetime horse and is now enjoying a well deserved retirement
When you load up the trailer to head out, what is one thing you must have?
First and foremost my family! But with school being an issue and my husbands job I have had to learn that they cant be with me all the time! Second needs to be a positive attitude which can easily get left behind after long hours in the truck the weekend before!
