
Most professional rodeo athletes know exactly where they rank in the standings as they pursue berths in the National Finals Rodeo.
Dusty Tuckness and his fellow bullfighters have no such knowledge.
Giving their best throughout rodeo’s regular season, their postseason fate lies in the hands of the top bull riders in the world they protect.
Tuckness, a Meeteetse native, got the thumbs-up.
“I’m still kind of on cloud nine,” Tuckness said. “I felt like I had a pretty good season and was feeling pretty good about what I’d done, but you never know.”
Tuckness, who followed in the footsteps of his father, Timber, was selected as an alternate for last year’s NFR in Las Vegas. This year, he took a step forward and will be a part of the three-man crew at the December event, something his father never accomplished.
