Trevor Brazile's Un-Bridled Roping Run On Texaco at AQHA Horse Show Fort Worth Texas 1/26/2010….AWESOME!!
Spencer Turner Checks in with OTRR
Hello rodeo fans,
Well I haven’t been to any rodeos yet in 2010, but I am getting really anxious to start spur’n some broncs. I have not yet purchased any of my rodeo association cards yet, but I’m planning to buy them soon. I would like to start back rodeo’n around mid Feburary. There are some shows in Michigan, Alabama and a PRCA show about 15 miles from my house in Sedalia, Missouri I need to go to. Check back to onetherodeoroad.com for upcoming rodeo results plus other updates I plan on adding.
Thanks!
Healthy Hess matters to barrel racer Lindsay Karp
Lindsay Karp knew something wasn’t quite right.
Outwardly appearances offered no hint.
But Karp just knew. It was the times that were a tick slower, the results one step below previous years.
Something was wrong with her prized horse Hess.
Karp couldn’t see what was wrong. She could feel it.
Hess is more than just a horse to Karp. The stout bay gelding is her rodeo partner.
Hess had carried the young Winston cowgirl to back-to-back Northern Rodeo Association barrel racing titles (2005-06), a Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit year-end championship (2008) and three consecutive qualifications to the prestigious Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo since Karp bought her professional card at the age of 18.
“I’ve been pretty blessed to make the Dodge Circuit Finals all three years,’’ Karp offered.
But her 2009 was filled with questions and worry.
“Hess didn’t run at rodeos like he had in the past,’’ said Karp.
The two won enough to place second in the MPRC standings for 2009 and earn that third trip to the DNCFR. They are scheduled to be in Billings Feb. 18-20, for the NRA Finals. She is second in the NRA barrel racing standings.
“During the season, he would seem to slow down, then pull out a good run or two,’’ Karp said of last summer. “I thought it was me. I was having a real tough year. I was really worried.’’ (read more)
