1. I buy a lot of things in bulk to save money, which is more like the “spend more now to save more later” theory. I buy a gallon of Show Sheen and fill up spray bottles to put in each trailer and in the barn. Fly spray, neatsfoot oil, supplements, all can be done the same way. However, keep in mind any items that have an expiration date and don’t buy too much than you can use before it expires.
2. We buy SafeGuard cattle wormer (the REAL big tube, 290g). You have to invest in the dispensing gun to use it, but the savings is well worth it. The cattle wormer is the same formula as the horse wormer. If you have a lot of horses to worm, this is a great investment.
3. Buy your blankets, coolers, sheets, sleazies, etc all in the summer. Most stores will have a big sale in the summer for the close-out models from the previous year. Most of the time the only thing different from the new ones is the color. Are you seeing a trend here? Spend more now, save more later. J
4. We make a lot of our own liniment. There are tons of different recipes out there to use. We use one bottle of green alcohol, one bottle of witch hazel and one bottle (regular size) of mint mouth wash. I also add some of this into my EZ All sprayer and spray them down after a hard workout.
5. African American hair products are really good for your horses hair. Most Dollar General stores have a section for it. We use the cream gels for braiding, the pink spray for shine.

Actually, the BEST conditioner I have found for my horses is from Dollar Tree…. it comes in a HUGE container and is yellow (I think it is a Basalm, or something like that). It is amazing and only a $1 for a big bottle! It lasts me all season
Cheap baby wipes are also awesome to have in the trailer…. much cheaper than grabbing paper towels to clean your hands or wipe something up.
