How do you keep yourself and horses fresh for competition?

Like I said previously, it’s important to me to jog and get my mind refreshed by listening to certain songs or motivational videos. I take time for myself, even if it’s 10 min. My horses are my #1 priority, because without them, I wouldn’t be here. I massage them ALL the time, get them out of the trailer at least every 5 hours of possible. Let them graze when I can, and let them roll, that’s important. I try to let them be horses as much as I can. They spend a lot of time in the trailer and stalls as it is, so turnout time is a must. I try to keep them happy and comfortable.

Do you use any alternative therapies (BOT, PHT, CHIRO)?

I use BOT wraps and blankets, I massage them constantly, and Chiro when needed.

What is your warm up routine?

My warm up routine for Cuatro is pretty simple, on the days I run him, I let him rest and warm him up enough to stretch and warm his muscles and get his attention. I like to warm up in split reins so he can relax his head down while I’m riding him. Then just keep him quiet, he gets excited and anxious for his runs sometimes. He loves his job. Morning Traffic is still young and gets more riding but it’s super important to keep her quiet and chill, she can be more on the excited/sassy side. LOL!

Who would you say is your rodeo idol?

Well growing up I watched Rachel and Judy Myllimaki videos… But my rodeo idol I’d say is Lisa Lockhart, because her heart is truly in it, not just the running but the fans and all. She loves being an inspiration to people and I love that. That’s what this is really about, the people.

Looking back on this year so far.. what is the most valuable lesson you have learned?

To stay focused on the end goal and to never take anything for granted, be thankful and appreciative. There are so many people who would give anything to be doing what we are doing.

Big THANK YOU to Stevi for taking the time to chat with us!!
