A major new development today in the case of the abused rodeo horse “Dually”.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Flint David Dahl of Fort Pierre. He is facing one count of grand theft, an alternative count of grand theft and one count of inhumane treatment of an animal.

Action News Reporter Derick Fabert was in Mitchell, where Dually’s owners live, and he joined us Tuesday’s KSFY Action News Live At 6 with the latest information.

“We are at the rodeo grounds north of Mitchell. It’s similar to the Fort Pierre grounds.

Man Charged In Horse Theft, Abuse Case *Justice for Dually*

news2It’s taken nearly three months, but finally authorities have charged someone for alleged abuse of Dually the Rodeo Horse. It’s a case we’ve been following for several weeks now.

An arrest warrant was issued for Flint Dahl of Fort Pierre on Tuesday. He’s been charged with two counts of grand theft and one count of inhumane treatment of an animal.

According to court papers, Dahl admits taking the horse the morning of July 5. (read more)

FORT PIERRE — An arrest warrant has been issued in the case of a rodeo horse which was recovered injured after disappearing from his pen after the Fort Pierre Fourth of July Rodeo.

Maher: Investigation continues in Dually case **justice for Dually**

FORT PIERRE — Stanley County State’s Attorney Thomas P. Maher said Monday he is still investigating the July 5 injury and alleged theft of the rodeo horse Dually.

“The investigation is continuing,” Maher said.

Maher said the investigation has had developments but declined to discuss them with the Capital Journal, a stance he has taken since the beginning of the case…(read more)

DCI Investigates Horse Theft **Justice For Dually**

news2The Division of Criminal Investigation is involved in the case of Dually, the stolen horse.  KELOLAND News received dozens of emails, phone calls and faxes, from Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas and California, from people who want to see whoever stole Dually brought to justice.

Horse lovers are angry. Not only that someone would steal someone else’s horse, but also that someone might have abused it. 

“I would want to know who that person is and put them in prison right away,” Riley Riepma said. 

Thirteen-year-old Riepma has been riding horses since she was two. She shows them now and just finished in the top 10 at the nationals in New Mexico….(read more)

Unbridled Justice (video) **Justice For Dually**

news2It’s been exactly one month since a rodeo horse was stolen from the Stanley County Fairgrounds in Fort Pierre and abused and still no one has been arrested.

The news has outraged horse lovers and animal rights activists all across the country. From blogs to emails, frustrations are mounting and rumors are spreading, even allegations of a cover-up.

Ft. Pierre is South Dakota’s rodeo capital and also home to World Champion Bare Back rider Casey Tibbs. But in the last month, this cowboy town has been bucked by rumors and accusations over a top-notch rodeo horse. (read more)

FORT PIERRE — Char Price Stangle, a rodeo rider from Haakon County, is concerned. With no arrests yet made in the case of a rodeo horse allegedly stolen from the Stanley County Fairgrounds and abused after the Fort Pierre Fourth of July Rodeo, Price Stangle said she worries for the safety of children and their horses at the 4-H Rodeo in Fort Pierre Aug. 8 and 9.

“My concern is for the safety of the kids and the horses,” Price Stangle said. “We want to be able to prove to children the fact that this is wrong and somebody will take care of it.” (read more)

Prosecutor: Horse-abuse reports not all accurate **justice for Dually**

The prosecutor handling the investigation into the alleged theft and abuse of a Mitchell woman’s barrel-racing horse says the version of events that was reported early on in the media and on blogs was not accurate.

Tom Maher, the state’s attorney for Stanley County, declined to identify any specific report but said he was referring generally to reports that “there was a horse that was stolen and tortured.” (read more)
