The Awesome Team Roping Duo Brazile-Smith are ending their Roping Partnership

TrevorbrazilemediaroomThe team roping partnership of Trevor Brazile and Patrick Smith is coming to an end, effective with the completion of December’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo after a run of seven years that saw them win the 2010 world championship, qualify for the WNFR every year and earn nearly $1 million apiece. They also won the 2008 WNFR average title together.

Smith plans to rope with header Kaleb Driggers starting in early 2014, but says the split was in no way personal and that he and Brazile remain close.

“We were together a really long time and had a lot of success together,” Smith said. “Trevor’s one of my best friends, and that won’t change. We’ll rope together through the NFR this year. I think it was just time for me to do something different. I’m excited about getting to rope with Kaleb.”

For a record ninth time in 11 years, Trevor Brazile has qualified for the National Finals in all three roping events. After his visit to Omaha, Brazile finished the regular season first in the all-around, second in steer roping, fourth in tie-down roping and seventh in team roping.
